LRC Guide

The LRC is here to support staff as well as students.

On this page we've collected a few staff-only tips and services so we can help you to help your students!

Don't forget to read through the rest of our LRC pages to find out how to find and use resources, opening times and more.

Using LRC Online

LRC Online (N.343) is a large computer suite for the delivery of any parts of your course which require PCs, or for you to supervise your students while they do online work. You are expected to stay with your students for as long as they are in the room.

LRC staff oversee the room and run the booking system.

To book a space, please email enquiry.desk@don.ac.uk. If you have any issues during your booking you can phone staff in ther FE LRC on ext. 2906.

Please let us know if you need to cancel or rearrange your booking so we can give your slot to another class.

Scanning for VLE

If you would like to include a scanned chapter of a book on Teams or Canvas, you need to submit a request via the form below. This is because we need to comply with copyright regulations, which we get audited on every so often.

You can have one chapter or 5% of a book (whichever is greater) uploaded at any one time.

Use the form below to request a digital copy of a resource. LRC Staff will locate and scan it and then get back to you with the copyright-compliant file which you can upload to your VLE.

Submit UCDon reading list

Please use the form below to submit the most up-to-date version of your reading lists or module handbooks. LRC staff will use this to check we have the correct items in stock and purchase anything that has been newly added.

You can upload up to 10 files at once, and you can fill in the form as many times as you need.

If there are any problems with your reading lists (such as out of print books or incorrect references) a member of our team will be in touch to discuss possible solutions with you.

Information Specialists

Each subject has an Information Specialist who buys books and oversees the LRC stock for that area (some libraries call this "academic liaison"). They are also available to provide training sessions for your students using our dedicated training spaces in the LRCs. Student training sessions can include (but are not limited to) referencing, accessing e-resources or using Microsoft apps.

If you would like to request books for the LRC, find out who your area's Information Specialist is or think your class could use some support using any resources, please email help.academicservices@dncolleges.ac.uk to let us know what you need.
