Getting started with digital systems

When you are a new student there are a few steps you have to go through before you can log into College systems and start using our resources. We've prepared a guide to Getting Started with Digital Systems to help you through this process.

This guide includes information on how to find out your student number, what your login details will be, and how to set up some important security measures. Once you've completed this process you should be able to log into your College account and start learning!

If you have any problems logging in please contact the IT Helpdesk. If you are a returning student and need to reset your password, please see the section below about how to reset your password.

Essential Digital Skills courses

The LRC team has put together a series of courses covering Essential Digital Skills such as Word, Excel, Teams and digital safety. You can work through these at your own pace and each one has a quiz at the end to test your knowledge. Each lesson is designed to help you improve your skills for the workplace as well as being important during your studies.

To access these courses, please visit Skills Boost and login using the Microsoft button. You will then need to choose your study level to see what courses we have available for you (FE, Apprenticeships or HE). You can go through them in any order, so feel free to start with the topic you feel the least confident on.

If you have any problems with Skills Boost or if you would like more help, please email us on help.academicservices@dncolleges.ac.uk or speak to one of our Learning Resource Assistants in the LRC. We can help you out by finding more resources for you, or we can arrange a one-to-one meeting to talk through any digital tools you are struggling with. We are here to help!
