The LRC has over 50,000 books on the shelf for you to choose from. These have been specially selected by teaching staff and your Information Specialists to make sure we have a collection which is up to date, easy to access and relevant to your course.
To search our Library catalogue go to LRC Search.
All students are automatically registered borrowers, so you can take these books home to use in your favourite study space.
Bring yourself, your items and your college card up to the LRC Information desk if you want to borrow any materials from the LRC or carry out any LRC transactions including copying and printing.
Your College card is your personal College ID, please be aware that we cannot conduct transactions without it.
There are two different loan periods: items with white labels are 3 week loans, while red labels indicate one week loans.
When you borrow a book, the member of staff will stamp the due date on the slip inside the front cover. This is the date you must return or renew it by, otherwise you risk getting an overdue fine.
Some items have "Reference Only" stickers. These cannot be borrowed and must be used within the LRC. Check the loan period on the LRC Search before you borrow to make sure you can return items on time.
If you would like to keep your books for longer, you can renew each item twice. At the end of your second renewal you will have to return it to the LRC. If no one else has placed a Hold on it then we may be able to reissue the item to you
There are 4 ways you can renew your books:
Online using your LRC account
Call us on 01302 553722
Email us at enquiry.desk@don.ac.uk
Visit us in person at the Information Desks in the LRC.
Remember: You must have your student card handy for all transactions.
In order to be fair to all our users we do fine students and staff who return materials late. The charge depends on the type of loan:
3 Week Loan: 10p per day
1 Week Loan: 30p per day
Inter-Library Loans: 50p per day
Lost items: Cost of replacing the item + administration charge
Please be aware that if you have overdue books and outstanding fines you may be prevented from further borrowing or renewing of materials until the matter has been resolved.
You can avoid fines by returning or renewing your books.
