According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the "octo-" prefix refers to the eight points on the popular symbol, but the "thorpe" remains a mystery. One theory claims that it comes from the Old English word for "village," based on the idea that the symbol looks like a village surrounded by eight fields!
There are always a variety of different displays in LRC3, LRC4 and LRCO, take time to have a look.
We now have over 600 students and staff signed up to Reading Ahead! Everyone will be entered into the prize draw and receive a certificate if they complete.

Also known as Blue Monday, this is the day of the year when most people might feel depressed.
The Samaritans have started Brew Monday to encourage people to have a brew and a chat about how they're feeling.
