Extend the loan period on your books or DVDs and avoid having to pay fines.

As long as  no-one else has asked for them , you can renew books and DVDs up to two times without bringing the items into the LRC.

You can ring us or come in with your student card. If you prefer, you can renew your books online. Please ask a member of staff how to do this.

Finding books

We use a system called Dewey to organise the books on the shelves in the LRC . Each subject has a class number and the books are filed in number order. If you know the class number for the subject or book you are looking for, you'll find it much more quickly.

The document below will introduce you to the Dewey system. See the tabs on art and design, fashion and textiles, graphic design or photography for more in-depth information.

Citing and referencing books

A one-page description of how to cite and reference a book with one author.

Dewey for art students

We add the first three letters of the artist or school of art to the end of a class number.

This helps you to find what you want when there are a lot of books at one class number.
