Animal Care: Books

Borrowing books

Click on the link below to find out how to borrow books from the LRC.  You can borrow up to 15 at a time, but please remember there are fines if you return them late.

Renewing Books

Extend the loan period on your books or DVDs and avoid having to pay fines. As long as  no-one else has asked for them, you can renew books and DVDs up to two times without bringing the items into the LRC. You can ring us or come in with your student card. If you prefer, you can renew your books online. Please ask a member of staff how to do this.

Hints and tips for locating books

  • Use the Hub LRC map (see link below) to locate subject areas
  • The Web Catalogue searches differently from a search engine.  It does not search the full text of the books
  • If you can not find what you need try a more general search.  You can use the contents page of books to get what you need
  • Still confused?  Then ask a member of staff for help.  We are here to help students so make use of us.

Finding books

We use a system called Dewey to organise the books on the shelves in the LRC . Each subject has a class number and the books are filed in number order. If you know the class number for the subject or book you are looking for, you'll find it much more quickly.
